When I try to start DNS Client via Service.msc, I have to first do Right click > Properties > Startup type: Automatic > Apply > Start > OK

When I click Apply, I get a message saying Access Denied. I *am* the Administrator.

Note: The problem is not exclusively DNS Client service: there are other services that do that.

UAC *is* disabled. And I have been launching Services by doing:
Start -> Right-Click Services -> Run as administrator...

Have you tried running the sfc/scannow command to see if there are any file integrity problems?

Why isn't it already set to Automatic? Maybe something is messing with your system.

When did that problem start? Go back to a restore point prior to problems.

I'm not sure when it started.

Also, when I enable some windows file sharing services, the computer frequently freezes up. The CPU usage does not spike, and the hard drive usage is normal, and sometimes the mouse can move. But when I click on something, the computer freezes.

P.S. Is this the right forum? Or should I ask this on a different forum?
