When you have more than one printer object that all use the same printer driver, Win7 will present only one printer object in Devices and Printers (I think the name shown under the object is probably the name of the printer which is the default).Hm, I renamed my Canon printer to "Canon MX700 – Portrait" and then, I added another printer, first named "Canon Inkjet MX700 series" and then changed by me to "Canon MX700 – Landscape". Now, in Control Panel – Hardware and Sound – Devices and Printers, only Canon MX700 – Landscape is listed, that is, Canon MX700 – Portrait AND Canon Inkjet MX700 series FAX have disappeared.
However, in my clipboard program, ClipCache, all three printers are listed under "Select Printer".
However they've been "grouped" for display here because they share the same driver. But if you right-click on that printer object and then drop the cursor down to the "printing preferences" item you'll see that there's a right-arrow, and you'll get a flyout that lists BOTH of your printer names.
You then select which of the two printers you want to see the "printing preferences" for, and you'll be able to adjust each one separately.
Again, the grouping together is something Win7 does to make things much cleaner, when they all use the same printer driver.
