Hi all:

Due to cable provider restrictions, my ASUS RT-N66U is collecting dust on my desk. I recently did a little home networking and would like to connect it to an ethernet drop to serve as an additional Access Point. I am a complete noob when it comes to understanding and manipulating the router settings so any help is appreciated.

What is the "order of operations" in setting up the router in AP mode only when starting from factory reset settings on the N66U? I'm working with a required AT&T Uverse Modem/Router combo.

Do I need to disconnect from the Uverse wireless and hardwire to the ASUS before setup?

When I do initial setup of the ASUS can I name the SSID the same as the Uverse and apply the same security settings? I've read this is what I WANT to do.

Do I let the ASUS automatically assign IP's after I turn on AP mode?

Thank you

So I went home, unplugged everything and started from scratch. Got it working on the first try. Sometimes all it takes is to take a step back.

Steps for configuring Asus RT-N66U as WAP for Uverse 2Wire Router

Just picked up the "Dark Knight" yesterday...and was hoping if you wouldn't mind, you'd share the order of the steps that you went through to get this router/wireless access point to work successfully - as a WAP - with a 2Wire Uverse RG. Many thanks!
