setup error on windows install

There are no partitions and the space is all unallocated yet every time I try to get windows 7 to install I get" setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the set up log files for more info. I tried to talk to dell and they won't help. And I cannot figure it out even after all the googling I've done. Thanks

Define a primary, active partition of appr. 50GB on that disk. You can do that with disk management. Then install into that partition.

It shows how to create a primary active partition in the tutorial. So obviously you have not followed the steps in the tutorial completely which is what's required to troubleshoot these issues.

Or I followed them exactly the way it said and the problem is persisting

Test the hard drive with the makers Hard Drive Diagnostic Procedure

Then run a full http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html on the full disk partition you created and marked Active.

Is there any way to post a shot of these setup files.

It`s sounds like you are trying to install to a GPT disk, even though it`s unallocated.
