Hi,

Recently bought a new motherboard (Asus p5g41t-m-lx) , VGA (Asus GT520Silent) and a RAM - kingston 4GB DDR3. Its been a nightmare to get this computer working, I couldnt get it to display anything - the display light was orange.. Anyway after meddling with the
maching got it do display somehow!

Then after installing Win7 (64x) it worked fine for a day and then started getting various BSODs.. (BAD_POOL_HEADER , IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, win32k.sys)

Got one of them when I tried to login from safe mode.. I know that this is definitely a hardware failure but cant seem to figure out the faulty part..

When I boot up, it gives a message saying new CPU installed and change bios settings (at POST check) . The CPU is core2Quad 2.6GHZ. Have 2 hard drives as well and they are pretty old.. not sure if they cause the BSODs but since I had trouble getting this to display I'm guessing the fault is with the motherboard.. But with all the constant BSODs I'm not sure if its the RAM even..

I'm not sure if I can access the memory dmp files but using bluescreen view I saw that IRQL error was there. Then the next 2 times I read whats on the screen which was bad pool header and win32k.sys

I'd like to know what I should do to find the faulty part and if it could be fixed or whether I ll have to buy new hardware again. (Even though I bought then recently I travelled overseas so I ll have to buy new stuff)

Any help is appreciated, Thanks!

Blue screen view is often incorrect. It blames the OS when it cant find anything else.

We do need the actual DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

I checked the minidump folder earlier and there was nothing in it, guess they havent been enabled. I keep getting BSODs when I try to boot from safe mode also.. I ll keep trying though and will post them if I get through..

But from these symptoms what do you think the faulty part is?

Also sometimes it crashes and stays frozen at bootup (when it loads windows).. when I boot from normal mode it freezes where the flag appears and right now I'm trying to boot from safe mode and its frozen where it loads windows.. just says windows is loading files but nothings happening :/

Well this is an assembled PC.. Just need to figure out what the faulty part is.. Motherboard , VGA and RAM are new and they are under warranty. Also the powersupply I bought yesterday. The rest are pretty old (CPU and HDD) but I have a feeling its either the MB, RAM or powersupply..

If I can figure out which part it is I can go and buy a new one.. Cant claim warranty yet as I'm overseas and wont go back for another 2 months.

I would think ram first. If you have a desktop you can pull all of it but one stick of ram to test
