SFC Scan Not Working

Hi. I am trying to scan my system using SFC but it does not seem to work.

C:\Users\(USER)>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan.  This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 9% complete.

Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.

It shoots up to 9% instantly every time then stops, does anyone know a solution?

Did you open up an elevated command prompt and execute the command in it?

All the hits I get for this problem via Google eventually end up being fixed by a Repair Install. Maybe save yourself time and aggravation and give it a try???
