Some background: did a clean reinstall W7 SP1 w/media refresh from .iso from heidoc several days ago. Everything went without a hitch ... or so I thought. First opportunity today to check Windows Media Player and no file would play. Went through the steps with troubleshooter and refreshed/re-registered the music library. No joy.

Error message reads:

Thinking it to be pointing at mf.dll file, I took ownership of the file, then couldn't find a replacement mf.dll.

I then ran sfc /scannow (2x): report attached

Couldn't make heads nor tails of it so ran TheWindowsClub FixWMP Utility.

No joy.

Any help I can get would be very welcome. Thank you in advance.

Nevermind ... I found the mf.dll file at Mf.dll download - OriginalDLL.com. Took ownership of the mf.dll files in System32 and SystemWOW64 folders, renamed existing in each file to mf.dll.old. Copied the downloaded mf.dll file into each folder. Et voila ... WMP works
