Hi

So i share internet connection with my laptop via setting "allow other network users connect through this computer's internet" from my main internet card

Problem is i live in block so i have alot of neighbours in my lan and i dont want to share this internet connection with them. Is there any way to setup password or something for this sharing internet connection?

Hi Nerfpl. Of course there is at least a way to protect your connection. To do that you must setup your router. Do you know how to do that? If not we will try to guide you trough the procedures to do that.

Sorry there's something I don't understand. When you say "i live in block so i have alot of neighbours in my lan and i dont want to share this internet connection with them" I understood you were worried because some neigthbour can get into your network, so I thougth you have a wi-fi connection; otherwise I don't understand how can a neigthbour get into your network if it is wired.

I will try to describe what im at at the monent

ISP by cable which gives net based on MAC -> Card A in PC With Win7
Card B in same PC -> crossover cable -> Card C in my laptop with WinXp

To allow Laptop use of internet (i can share files etc without it) i need to check "allow other network users connect through this computer's internet" in my card A settings. Then in my laptop appreads something like "internet gateway connection" so i can surf web.

Now im worried that others people which im connected via my ISP with card A can access my internet connection because im sharing it.

//

My current settings on cards:
A:
everything auto (static ip btw)

B:
IP 192.168.137.1 (win7 set this after i check "allow other user's..." on my card A)
mask 255.255.255.0
gate: empty
dns: empty

C
IP 192.168.137.2
mask 255.255.255.0
gate 192.168.137.1
dns: 192.168.137.1

That's what i understand: there is a PC with windows 7 that is the gateway from wich you have access to internet in your laptop and this connection is wired; and also there are other computers that are connected to the gateway (PC with windows 7). That's ritgh? And then you don't want this people to have access to your shared folders. Rigth?
