Sharing issue from laptop to PC

Hello

I have a classic Linksys WRT*** router and i have a PC connected by cable and a laptop connected via wifi... and i shared the D: from the PC but i just cant see it on the laptop
The PC had all sharing options to off i ticked them to on an restarted both devices and still nothing

If you can't see the PC at all then you may want to check that both machines are in the same Workgroup.

You would also want to set up the advanced share permissions from the D:>Users folder rather than the D: drive itself.

For the machine or it's drives to be visible you would also need to turn on Network Discovery, File and Printer sharing etc. in the Advanced Sharing settings at the Network and Sharing Center.

Check those options and let me know. :)

all options are on... both computers are on the type home network and the options are good
i created a home group on the pc but on the laptop i dont have a button join homegroup only create homegroup
i tried the advanced sharing thing to add my laptop as a privileged user and it never finds my laptops computer name

Might be a long shot but are both these computers named the same ?


Yes they were named the same :D
Renamed the laptop than i had the join homegroup button appear joined the homegroup restarted both devices and it worked i was able to download from my pc

Tried advanced sharing again to add my laptop to user privileges and still couldnt find my laptop but it worked without this anyway

In case someone else needs it
