Shift keys on my laptop don't work

As the title says, the shift keys on my laptop stopped working. I turned on my laptop and thats all - they weren't working anymore. I did the keyboard check but nothing...

"Keyboard check" you mean a clean check? Make sure it looks clean, you can use alcohol swabs 'isopropal alcohol' 70% is okay but the more isopropal alcohol the better it cleans. Spills can cause a key to short out and most likely result in buying a new keyboard. Roaming pets can accidently doing a 'bad thing' over a keyboard and noone would even think of it. One thing you can check and see is if there are any warning signs or yellow symbols in device manager. This indicates that your OS is having trouble reconizing this device. However, you can try an external USB keyboard and see if that replicates the issue. In the mean time you can run the On Screen Keyboard ( Press the <windows key> and <R> at the same time to bring up the run command, type <osk> and press <enter>). Hmm... another thing you can try... initialize the 'sfc /scannow' in a command prompt. This will replace any missing files. Hope something works out for you. Make sure you Caps Lock key in not locked on Caps.
Just tick on Caps Lock key to make sure it'a on lower case. and see if the shift key works.
