My desktop shortcuts to network shared folders disappear once in a while.

I made a clean install of Windows 7 64 Bits. All the local shortcuts are fine.

I have no clue why they disappear. It has been a couple of times now.

Anybody has the same issue?

Thanks

I found a similar thread here but it seems like it was for Windows XP 64 Bits:

In order to create a proper network shortcut with Windows 7 you need to do it a certain way for the shortcut to work properly. It's easy once you know how. Just follow the link below. :)

Wow, do we really need to do it the way you mention to make it work properly?

Well, I do not know if we understand each other properly. I tried your solution and it the shortcut opens the Network Folder. That is not what I really want.

There is folder, on the work network, that is shared and accessible by everybody. The share link looks like this:

\\MACHINE_NAME\Data1\Costing\Projects\2008 Contract

Now, I created a shortcut on my desktop that points there. In fact, I have 5 or 6 shortcuts like this and each of them points to a different shared network folder.

So the problems is that, they all disappear once in a while. I do not have a recipe to reproduce that yet. Do you know what I mean?

Thanks
