First, the drive you pictured is NOT and SSHD (Solid State Hard Drive aka Hybrid Drive). If it was, it would say SSHD on the label.

Second, if it was an SSHD, the SSD portion wouldn't show up in My Computer and you wouldn't be able to access it. It's only 8GB and is only used to cache the HDD portion.

The 18GB SSD you found is probably an mSATA installed on the MOBO and most likely is intended to cache the HDD since 18GB is too small for the OS unless the computer originally had Linux installed.

Hmm very strange LF I looked this thing up and it is labelled Momentus which is the name Seagate used for the hybrids before they sort of dropped that title - yet the stock number refers to just a spinner. I reckon you are right the SSD is on the board and why the drive has Momentus on it is anyone's guess. Most Momentus drives I have seen are also 3GBs transfer rate and 5400rpm and the newer ones (hybrids) are 6GBs while retaining the 5400rpm spin speed.
From what I understand and gather of hybrids the SSD "part" acts as fast cache more than what one thinks of in a true SSD. Hybrid drive - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Have installed two of these now and to be honest the speed is not what one gets out of an out and out SSD but certainly faster than a plain spinner.
But I shall leave the rest you others to get to the bottom of the problem as frankly I am a little disappointed with the remarks made by the OP re my tardiness in replying.

I was reading this thread which is a bit confusing as to the HDD--SSHD description given. The picture of the drive says HDD, so it looks like its a HDD. I was curious as to what drive was in this thing and got the following info below off Amazon if it makes the type of drive or thread any clearer.
