I am currently using Avira AntiVir Personal and I use Comodo Firewall with Defense+ (HIPS)

Should I also use this Threat Fire in conjunction with those first two, or is it overkill?

Thanks :D

I've settle with Avast & Comodo and use Emsisoft, Malwarebytes, and Superantispyware on demand. From what I've read, you don't want to run more than one AV or Firewall in live mode.

I forgot to mention that I use Spywareblaster too. Bad idea?

You don't have too, unless you feel that your Avira AntiVir Personal + Comodo Firewall with Defense wasn't vulnerable enough to secure you

adding any more program will also increase the used of memory :)
I'm just sayin

I used to have Threatfire (even back when it was CyberHawk), a good program and played nice W/ both Avast and Comodo, but decided when going to Windows 7 not to install it as it is overkill for the beaten path I surf. It doesn't use many resources, and is certainly good if you want to try it, but unless you surf willy nilly :), you might not need it. A Guy

No, not any conflict. ThreatFire is a great security app and I can configure it to be just as powerful if not more than D+. As others have mentioned, with the setup mentioned, it would be overkill especially in the part of choking your system down. If this question was asked a little over a year ago I would have said go for it. Somewhere around the 3.5'ish version, ThreatFire for me became a serious system slow downer, lol. It did this in a very stealth kind of way. After the update, I looked at the resoruce usage of TF and noticed that TF's part had actually dropped quite a bit but the overall system usage had increased over a hundred megs. I later found out that TF had injected a DLL into most all running processes which attributed to what I called a serious system slowdown for me.

As you can see there are many opinions. For me the question is does Threatfire add any real value? I've tried it many times over the years and it has never proven useful. By that I mean it has never successfully either prevented or removed an infection. On the other hand it has occasionally caused serious system slowdowns and quarantined legitimate system files - such as Explorer.exe - which prevented the computer from booting. I haven't used it recently so can't comment specifically on the latest version. I'm sorry to offer such a negative review. It's anecdotal of course, but it has been my honest experience. YMMV :geek:
