To use this quote......

Yeah, like everyone said I know the wei scores are just a marketing scheme, but it seems that many people fall for it,

Actually WEI isn't a marketing ploy/scheme; it's just been made that way by users. WEI's (Windows Experience Index) actual purpose is to......

measures the capability of your computer's hardware and software configuration and expresses this measurement as a number called a base score. A higher base score generally means that your computer will perform better and faster than a computer with a lower base score, especially when performing more advanced and resource-intensive tasks.

What is the Windows Experience Index?

In short it's a quick way to compare systems to one another. Say you're in the market looking for a PC, well you can use conceivably use WEI as a measuring stick to see how one computer compares to another.

However human nature being what it is says "I gotta have that high score or my system is a bust"...... OK :)

BTW I don't think this "marketing ploy" is benifitting Microsoft as much as say the hardware vendors - I don't see people buying Windows to get a better WEI score, I see them buying hardware - none of which Microsoft makes ;)

Just some clarification :)

Ok, so I don't like the monitor in the desk, it was cool for awhile but it is just a pain in the arse to use. But last night I went to microcenter and picked up some Cold Cathodes for some ambient lighting.. Here is the result!

Maxwell,
The up lighting looks wicked. I just went to dual 23" LG LED's from my 26" 720p LCD TV/Monitor. I love the dual screens as I've used these before at a previous office but also miss the extra real screen of the 26". I guess the perfect solution would be at least 2 or 3 25"-30" screens or check this wicked set up out !

The lighting is awesome! It also helps for the screens not to be so blinding at night, it's just awesome to have the ambient lighting.. The Cold Cathodes were only 10$ at microcenter, but they connect by molex. To fix that problem, I created a molex extension cord using a old power supply, it works great and the lights turn off when the computer does at night! I also mounted a switch under my right monitor so I can turn them off during the day when I want to.

The eyefinity setups are sweet.. I used to have 3 22" monitors, but the other one that I used didn't match, and wasn't as good of a display as the ones that I currently have, so I stopped using it. So I know what you mean about missing that extra real estate. I would love to have all of those monitors in portrait though..

Added an Ultra Kaze 3000 to my Silver Arrow. Maybe I used too much TIM (I think I did) but temps stayed pretty much the same. When I put my new MOBO in I'll be more careful when applying the paste.

Let's not rush to judgement. We have to see how it performs inside a warm case before we conclude it's not worth it... besides, Tweet didn't say what temps were yet.

Sorry, not trying to rush to judgement. I often just shake my head and wonder about the value of excessive cooling solutions. We all know that when you overclock, you need to try to keep your CPU cool. But there is a safe temperature for computers to run within...and as long as you are within these ranges, you should be fine. For example, lets say that your CPU can get to 90+ degrees. Well, if you cooler keeps it under 60 degrees and it's safe to 90..what real benefit do you have to drop it from 60 to 50? Does it become far more stable, will it last for 1 more year, does it actually go faster? What is the advantage of cooling it even further???

What's the point of surfing bigger waves when smaller waves are just as fun; of skiing a steeper descent when gentler slopes are just as fun; of buying a faster car when the speed limit is 60?

You can ask that same question pretty much about anything that's fun... but if you have to ask... well, I just shake my head too. :p
