What is the Windows Experience Index?
In short it's a quick way to compare systems to one another. Say you're in the market looking for a PC, well you can use conceivably use WEI as a measuring stick to see how one computer compares to another.
However human nature being what it is says "I gotta have that high score or my system is a bust"...... OK
BTW I don't think this "marketing ploy" is benifitting Microsoft as much as say the hardware vendors - I don't see people buying Windows to get a better WEI score, I see them buying hardware - none of which Microsoft makes
