I believe that having naturally colored Noctuas is a statement in itself. Easily identified by those in the know as quality fans. Kind of like a designer brand. Doubt anyone will install them for the "status", but it may become a desired thing

I do understand all this And I completely agree, if I had a second computer I would full it with them, but in my current one I just dont want beige and orange fans, however good they are.

I didn't get this for additional cooling, but for the quiet.

That was my main inspiration when I got my Direct CUII with the triple slot cooling. The temp drop was a bonus, but the quiet is like loving tender sex to my ears

Accelero really do make some awesome coolers

Being able to tun it passive is a mega bonus.

At Stock speed, do Noctuas push/pull same amount of air as any other fan at stock speed? quietly? i wanna upgrade all my 120m (5) and 1 140 to noctua for silence, as long as air push/pull is equal or better. i still cant see myself dishing out that much cash for fans. unless they're made out of diamonds and power my whole house. (somehow)

There are a few alternatives to noctuas that are just as quiet and push similar amount of air.

The Sycthe Gentle Tyhpoon is a good one and for value, the Nexus Real Silents are cheap and do a pretty good job.

Some fans suit coolers better, while others shine as case fans.

I personally prefer the Noctuas though.

Some may be aware. I replaced my case fans (3 120mm, 1 140mm) with Noctuas. That made the CPU fan seem noisy, so I replaced that with a Noctua PWM 120mm. Now I could hear the GPU fan which sounded like a hard drive always writing, very annoying ticking noise. In looking into replacing the fan, I came across the Accelero S1 Plus, which I had actually looked into before.

So, if you are looking for a different cooling solution, I can recommend this. I saw people installing it on high end cards in my research, and they all achieved significant decreases in temps with a fan of some sort installed. It is big, so you'd have to confirm it will not interfere with side fans, Sata connections, etc.

Yeah, it turned out the GPU fan was the noisiest. But changing the CPU fan definitely made things quieter too. Used the NF-P12 PWM, and it runs at 1275 RPM or so (compared to 1900+ for the original). Is much quieter, and the temps are unchanged. Must say, am finding the Nocs all they are said to be. All but CPU fan running with the lowest speed adapters, and still maintaining the previous temps (although all 4 Tri-cools were also set to low). A Guy

I don't want to interupt the chane of thoughts here, but I was on the fence about fans, I don't wan't any LED ones,and just wan't those that perform well and are quiet,while looking good, so filtered it down allot, and ended up with some nzxt fans(can't recall the exact names now),gentle typhoons and coolermaster silent ones. They are all between 1200rpm-1600rpm. So out of those 3 I desided on the Scythe gentle typoons of 1400rpm, but havent placed the order yet,because all the talk about how good and silent these Nocs are,have given me some new ideas... I will have to revert on reviews between the typhoons and the Nocs.

On other news, I have resieved my radiator sofar , and just placed an order for a SSD, it will be the normal corsair force series 3, not the fancier GT,Intells or OCZ half because of the price difference(which is allot) and the other half because it will only be used for top 5-10 games.(ie. Skyrim,batman,nfs...). That will arive hopefully tomorrow, so then I just need to copy the current data over and change the directory to the new one, and if it all goes well I will be loading Skyrim faster.

Now back to fans, those Nocs seem to be the popular choice, but I am kinda leaning towards Typhoons...gotta read up sum moe reviews.

I don't think loading times in skyrim are down to hard drive speed, I have a standard 7200rpm drive, but I will load most areas in 1-2 seconds most the time, 3 absolute max. But I suppose if you want times faster than that..that would be pretty handy

Does anyone here have 1st hand experience with gentle typhoons? They seem the next best bet after nocs, and in a better colour for my case

I leaned towards them because most reviews chose Nocs for case fans,but typhoons for radiator fans. And they are black and light grey, so they will closely match my black with with WC them...

Why not jump directly to 2011 build?

2011, won't get much gain for price to performance ratio for gaming. 1155 is cheaper, and more effective for me in my case. I'm buying decently into 1155. I'll be dropping an ivy into my board once they hit and it'll support all my monitors.

Yeah,I agree, but I for one am allready looking at 2011 hardware, and I bought my 1155 stuff only a few months ago. It's just that need for newer better. lol

Nice,yeah I will recieve the rest of the parts according to them by the 22nd of March, so it will then be a month later. But atleast I will get it. Trying to get Water Cooling stuf in South-Africa is a mission!

The Typhoons come in several speeds, each moving more air (and noisier) then the last. They were always touted as the quietest at moving a lot of air. I don't think they are much less then the Noctuas though, depending on where you can get them of course. I think if you don't want Noctuas color, then they would be a good choice.

Asoon as i am able to make up my mind,i will be running them on a fan controler,so the rpm and noise will be controlled so to speak. Thanx for the link,thats some interesting stuff
