Show Us Your Rig [8]

My first PC build in over a decade. I left PC gaming for consoles... and started working for Apple so I switched over to the dark side... but when the XBOne came out, I started looking towards building a gaming rig. I assembled my pieces slowly so put together after the ability to return anything. Like if I had known the USB3.0 port on the Mobo wouldn't fit perfectly due to the 500R case design, I would have gone with the 600t or a HAF case. I also should have gone with the 240mm corsair brand rad because it wouldn't have needed any "fandangling" to get it to fit properly. But alas... here she is...

4.0ghz (4.4oc) i7 4790k. MSI Gaming 7 mobo. MSI R9 280 3GB. 2x4GB DDR3. 120 Corsair GTX SSD booting Windows 7 Pro. 2TB WD Black. Corsair 500R case. 120mm Cool Master closed circuit cpu cooling.

Nice job, Master Turkey. Very well done. Congrats on the new build.

Thanks. :)

It's still a work in progress... (2x4gb on it's way back to new egg for RMA, so I should have 16gb total eventually. I need a new monitor some day as mine is almost 10 years old. And I would like to swap the 120mm cool master for a 240 corsair cpu cooling rad set up. And I have a scsi drive I need to install, or rather re-learn or teach myself what needs to be done. I'm not sure if the board supports it somewhere or if it's still like the old days and I need a pci card?)...

But thank you! It feels good to be back on PC. :)

Nice build Master Turkey, don't worry alot of us are never done with our build (we just think we are) until upgrade-its or that new build itch sets in.

Oh Yeah and there are Boxing week sales on so there should be lots of action in this thread for the next couple of weeks.:D

That's a sweet build Master Turkey :) and not to mention I love the Motherboard you got actually I've also planned to get MSI Gaming 5 Mobo in coming months but before that I need to get a Samsung EVO 840 120GB SSD for my PC in which I will install Windows 8 on dual boot and already waiting for my new GTX 970 to arrive which will be taking another 10 to 15 days as it's coming from USA..

P.S. just remembered that I will have to buy Windows 8 as well :sleepy:

Keep in mind that Win 10 isn't all that far off and, so far, it appears to be better than Win 8 and even Win 7 (though, truth be told, I have no plans to upgrade from Win 7 anytime soon no matter how good Win 10 may prove to be since Win 7 meets my needs and I'm used to it).

Same here Jeannie I don't feel upgrading from 7 to 8 or 10 even if it will be released in sometime but that would not be as stable and compatible like 7 is though my reasons for Windows 8 on a separate drive is totally because of gaming needs :(

Master Turkey, nice to see you back to building your rig.
Fare warning; it's hard to get stopped once started.

Thanks! I've always loved MSI (in the past at least) for their reliability and their solid BIOS. And I loved the onBoard sound blaster because it reminded me of the old days of gaming with sound cards and such. Plus all the reviews of the board seemed solid too. GTX 970? damn. That's nice! Congrats! And I also want a second ssd, but this time I want to utilize the m.2 on the board and go with a m.2 ssd (10ps vs 6). And I've been reading on Windows 8 for the upgrade in Direct X'ness... but I just can't go with an OS that looks like a mobile OS. I've heard you can adjust that... but I'm still on the fence.

Nice build Master Turkey, don't worry alot of us are never done with our build (we just think we are) until upgrade-its or that new build itch sets in.

Oh Yeah and there are Boxing week sales on so there should be lots of action in this thread for the next couple of weeks.:D

Thanks! and ya I know what you mean. After I was done, I just wanted moar stuffs for it. ha! m.2 ssd, new 240mm rad, 2nd r9 280 to run crossfire (the numbers look really good for crossfire), etc. lol.

:DGreat looking build Master Turkey

+1 on the pinball Jeannie, I love that game

Thanks man! I had to compromise on the case because the 600t was sold out everywhere due to Xmas shoppers and such... but the 500R is actually growing on me. I'm not a fan of those cases that look like they are going to turn into robots (actually a quote from the corsair website on the 900D, lol)...

P.S. I too haven't played Pin Ball since the Windows 95 days. lol.

Master Turkey, nice to see you back to building your rig.
Fare warning; it's hard to get stopped once started.
Keep up the good work.

Thanks. And I know alllll about it. My wallet knows it too. Ha! But I also have trouble not spending money on Steam games. I feel like it's almost an addiction. :-\

When and If (who am I kidding... WHEN) I add on, I'll post again in this thread. Loving all the rigs on this site. And all the over clocking. Seems like there's a bunch of Bad A** folks around here. It's rad.

Upgrades for the future : 240mm corsair rad and a corsair keyboard.
Jeannie blower really comes in handy and my vacuum cleaner has an option which turned it into a blower but I usually use it to blow of the dust from my screens :D I remember you gave me that advise and after that it still working like a charm and not putting any scratches or tiny lines that appears with soft soaked cloth...

and here the time has come and I finally upgraded my RAM's to 8GB total for now and finally break out of 4gigs after several years of pain :D although the pain started in newer games hehehe.. got new Kingston HyperX Fury DDR3 1866 CL10 (2x 4GB) and it's the most recent model that comes in with all black PCB and a nice low profile heat sink ;)

Here are the pics...

I know what your thinking now :( couldn't find black or red color anywhere :(

Nice! Looks good man. What kind of case is that? And why no fan right above the cpu on the case (upper)? won't fit?

Thanks Man :D that's Xigmatek Asgard 382 (Window Mesh) Edition.. yes there 1 more fan can be installed on the top and even on the bottom as well but I just had 3 120mm's at the time when I bought that case. 1 fan on the rear came factory installed than I installed 2 Cooler Master's 120mm's in the front and 1 Xigmatek on the top although the temps are great never had to even turn on the top fan :D not a big overclocker oh and yeah another fan can be installed on the CPU Cooler!

Thank you Steve, glad that you like it. I like good cable management, but the cpu power cable is too short to go from the back side, so I must do it like that. I got some cable ties, they help me a lot in cable management.
Also, as I said above if someone can help me with connecting the front panel (usb, audio, card reader) to the motherboard, because I'm not sure about them.
