Use one of the Intel ports instead of the Marvel. There have been many comparisons and the Intel controller is much faster. You may want to check the OCZ site for firmware updates as well.

Please backup your data first before you go switching ports and or updating firmware…just to be safe!!

1.28 is the latest firmware for that drive (vertex 2).

Anyway I agree with you on using the Intel controller. Even though my motherboard has SATA 6 marvell controllers I don't use them.

Sygnus, my Vertex2 is on FW 1.25. Is there a big advantage to go to 1.28 as to your knowledge? I am always a bit leary about flashing the FW because a couple of years ago I really mucked it up on a Vertex1. I had to send it to OCZ to get it fixed. They were really helpful and did it free of charge - even paid for the postage.

BTW 1.28 is available for download - OCZ Technology

Those are the release notes on the new FW. I may be wrong but I thought we had 34nm flash and the next Gen. was going to have 25nm. If I am correct, the only thing I can see is it adds support for something that has not been released yet.

As mentioned, the Marvell controller isn't the best one to use, you'll get better performance from the Intel controller.

You can try to update the Marvell drivers but, I don't think they will help much.

The picture of your board I saw shows blue and white SATA connectors. Which color is for the Intel and which for the Marvel I could not see. It's probably stamped on the board, though.

I disabled the Marvel Controller and my reboot time went from 75 seconds to 28.

I've ran the benchmarks again and well their pretty much exactly the same. :/
I'm running on a Sata 2 socket, that is because my Motherboard said that particuler socke would give me the best boot time. Would Sata 3 boost my SSD performance?

I think there is a problem with HD Tune and the Vertex2. I had a similarly dismal picture. But my Atto test is great and my WEI is 7.6. Try Atto.

Ya I got some bizarre results from HD Tune that was not consistent at all. I wrote it off thinking it was because of the RAID.

Absolutely right. Let me show you what funny HD Tune result I got and then compare that to the Atto data. Those measurements were taken 5 minutes apart.

The one on the left is a single Force120 on an AMD SATAIII controller. The one on the right is 2 Force120 in RAID0 on an Intel STATAIII controller. Can’t find the benchmark with them in RAID on the AMD controller but it was all over the place…

Check you motherboard manual, usually some of your SATA ports will be Intel and some will be Marvell.

For those of you thinking about a new Intel drive, you may want to wait.

Micron's ClearNAND: 25nm + ECC, Combats Increasing Error Rates

It's not just the Intel SSDs, it's all 25nm SSDs. Hope that they can find a solution.

Might just be the best thing to stay with 34nm SSDs, at least until they sort out this serious problem.

The new Intel 510, early reports are showing a very slow 20K IOPs at 4KB read and 4K IOPs at 4KB write.
I'm hoping that this is either a mistake or they are planning to release something with much better IOPs.

The current 120GB and 160GB have 35k IOPS 4k random read, 8.6k IOPS random write, You would think they would at least match this and should improve on it.

My Crucial C300 128GB drive ran beautifully on the Marvell controller. Since my ASUS U3S6 died and I've had to run it off a SATA 3GB/s port write speeds are way down.

Now, 4k write speeds are lucky to hit 30MB/s
