WHS, if that comment above was directed at me, thank you. I still don't understand why we could not do a secure erase. I have 2 SSDs in my system, I can SE the secondary, clone the primary to the secondary, SE the primary and clone it back in about 20 minutes. So I have no idea why we couldn't do it. But, thank you. Maybe you should have been around.

With a LOT of help form you and input from others I managed to get it installed without Secure Erase working.

I did my Macrium image and a Windows Backup so I'm good to go for a long time.

By the time I need SE again maybe we will find a solution to my bug.

I'm delighted as is.

The Intel® SSD Toolbox 2.0 User's Guide states that when running Secure Erase after replugging the SSD's data cable and clicking Refresh, the Secure Erase can be launched. However, even if the system BIOS is set to AHCI, the following error may occur; "ATA Security is enabled. Secure Erase cannot run until security is disabled."
To resolve the issue, ensure that Intel® Rapid Storage Technology is installed in the system. Secure Erase may not launch even if it is set to AHCI.
1. Install Intel® Rapid Storage Technology.
2. On windows 7*, Click Start select Run then launch Services by typing services.msc and hitting on the Enter button.
3. Change Intel® Rapid Storage Technology settings from Automatic(delay) to Automatic.
4. Reboot the system.
5. You should be able to run Secure Erase on the Intel SSD Toolbox now, and even have a faster refresh rate when replugging the SSD.

Intel Rapid Storage Technology. The raid driver, supposedly helps even if you don't use raid. I uninstalled it.

Well I got that with the Msahci drivers installed and no added Intel software yet.

I figured that was part of the AHCI.

Funny you mention this, was a question I had. After installing the SSD (or switching on the AHCI, not sure which):





Was thinking to ask if this was normal, and if it could be removed. Like you say, would be a big ooops if ejected either, lol. A Guy

It's normal on my machine. I believe if using the msahci driver it is normal, but if using iaStor ahci driver (IRST) it does not show up like that.
