This is without a doubt an interesting subject. My outlook is this, at the moment SSD's are relatively small and compared to HDD's very expensive. The only real use for one is as the main drive with Windows installed on it which allows the user to benefit from the extra speed.
This is however going to change SSD's will grow in size, the speed will also increase, the price will keep falling and my upgraditis will sometime get the better of me.
When I upgrade there is no way I am going to just stop using the SSD's that I already have. Because of the small size, using them as a secondary drive is at the moment not an option. I plan therefore to use my drives as backups most likely using USB3, but due to the speed limitations I may well connect them internally.
I see in the not too distant future that HDD's will be used less and despite the cries that there is no point using an SSD as a secondary drive it will become more common place.
SSD's have a limited life, just how limited is unsure at the moment, so it makes sense to me to use this life sensibly.
I look forward to the day when I have superfast backups and data transfers. Even if my drives only last 6 months longer I feel that I will be getting a better return for the high price that I have payed out for this pleasure.
Just my two cents
