That is an HDD not an SSD.

Yeah, Hoppy is right. You selected the wrong drive. On the top left where the drive letter is shown, roll down and find the SSD.

That is a good question indeed. If it is a laptop, there are only very few models that would have a second disk bay.

ok, so I just did the benchmark for my SSD that I have installed on my gateway its a 64GB and I get such crappy scores! is that because I ran the test with my other HD attched? why are my scores so bad compared to the others?

For starters download the new version here. This one probably in German > Alex Intelligent Software - Downloads

This one is the English version I'm fairly sure.

The old version did not work well with my Intel 320 either.
I think they updated it to the 1.6 to work better with newer 2011 SSD's.

Also shut down close all browsers, mail (Outlook) etc. while doing the benchmarks. You want the "OS" idling for best results.
I know lots of things still run in the back ground just not all the extras "we" start.

Also if Windows is indexing the scores may show low. Indexing may continue to run or take too long to stop before the benchmark starts.

The newer version I posted above should get better results. At least more accurate.

ok so I ran the benchmark again with the newer as ssd app and I got worse numbers! LOL anyways I installed the new SSD 128gb drive I just got for my laptop and here is the scores I got for it...after im gonna run the wei test see what I get

I'm not sure what is going on with the Kingston.
Maybe some others will post some ideas.

Post a shot of your Disk Manager.

If you run too many tests on an SSD, they will tend to slow down. Wait a day or so before running another. Depending on the controller, some tests will show better results than others. Like WHS said, I would try ATTO next time and compare the results. Your drive has a Samsung controller so idleing on the login page may not work to help it. You are getting close to the advertised read speeds but about half of the write speeds. The access times is what is hurting you most on the Kingston. also the 4KB read speeds are very slow.

His Kingston on the previos page is 103424-K offset.

edit: btw I cloned my hard drive because I didnt wanna lose my full copy of Adobe photo element but I'm thinking I shoulda installed a fresh copy of se7en now

Not a bad idea to leave the recovery partiton.

I never thought of that.

I'm sure you made the recovery CD/DVD's already but it never hurts to have the partition.

You can go either way. I just cloned mine when I installed on my SSD.
If it ever gets totally messed up I'll go with a clean install then....or when I have the extra time and patience.
