Finally got a replacement for my dead Kingston SSD Now X-25M (SNM225-S2B). Ran a benchmark, flashed the firmware and ran it again. Not sure how to interpret the results tho

out of interest, why did you opp for the Kingston 80GB over the intel 80GB?

It's the same drive but the Kingston was more available to me in australia. The store I bought it from had no Intel x-25m drives.

just one thing? the kingston, does it have Trim?

My returning RMA drive...

The Patriot PS-100 drive I sent off for RMA is going to be delivered today and I don't know what to do with it. :shock:

My Windows 7 PC is the one with the RAID 0 config. The computer my daughters use has the first Kingston SSD (SNV125). I have a computer in the garage that runs XP that is about 8 years old, so putting the Patriot in that one is an no go.

I guess I could set the Vista image to the Patriot drive as the Patriot drive has (supposedly) better read and write numbers over the first gen Kingston drive. But if I do that, then I'll have the Kingston left homeless.

Any suggestions how to put this spare drive to use?

I bunged my second SSD in as a spare - for fast-running stuff..
games like Crysis and FarCry2 run really well from an SSD, as does MSOffice

- the Corel suite runs like a dream..

BTW, bet those two 932's look nice, 562..

- they give out some incredible colors, don't they..

Another satisfied customer. It's unbelievably rare to find an SSD owner that regrets making the purchase...it's usually just people regretting waiting so long.

It's the biggest upgrade that I have made in years.

Finally got my x-25m 80 installed as boot drive also.
Absolutely worth the investment, Win7 was snappy with platter drive, but this is !B0oM!
Can't wait till more SATA 6Gb SSDs come to market, current ones (Crucial) are very $, my onboard SATA 6Gb is waiting for the chance.

You are right. the 128GB Crucial Sata6 is a little expensive at $450 (after rebate). Unfortunately they do not specify the access time. That would be important to know because for the OS, access time is much more important than data transfer rate. If that is not a lot better than 0.1ms, I rather go with an OCZ Vertex for $100.

Sorry, I don't understand your reply as it links to a post a week old... I was getting similar as yours and fixed it with the latest firmware...

1. is the Alignment right?
2. its in ahci or ide?
3. i see you cloned the HDD 2 SSD? some times the alignment dont take. and you need to redo it with Diskpar.

this is my SSD after Clone Alignment was wrong.

after Fixing the Alignment then Reclone the Drive with Tut from OCZ..

now using the new Intel Driver.

just something maybe to look @.
