Thank you so much Dave. My first custom built rig

At the time I ran test I had a bunch of programs open and was using firefox. You think I'll get a better score if I run it solo? I doubt it though they were basic programs.

Try closing all programs and let your computer sit for 15 minutes and run the WEI, you might get a better RAM score.

Let us know if it helps.

Just wondering on which SSD is going to work for Me I need 7Ultimate64 and adobe Masters CS5 with MS office Enterprise and Visio These are my main programs but may need 10 Gb space for other apps.Will 64Gb Drive do or do I need more space:huh:? My Docs and Libraries will be on spin Drives.

Why don't you install that stuff to a HDD instead of the SSD, have a look at the stuff I have installed to a spinner, I've got about 30GB used of the 80GB available on my SSD, C: is the SSD and G: is a HDD.

Thanks Ted My thinking was that the startup of those apps would be faster if instaled to the SSD but dont want to sacrifice O/S start time if thats how it works?

You'll never notice the difference.

You don't have everything starting when the PC starts up do you, you start progs/apps as needed right?

If you can swing it go for a SSD.
Your specs are begging for one.
You'll see a very noticeable improvement.
Even a small 30-40GB SSD will boost overall performance.

Thanks for letting us know, I try to have everything shutdown when I do a test.

thanks ted, but that folder is empty.

kaspersky fixed this issue a good few months back.

i just jumped to the quick assumption that the new version of kis brought the problem back.

pure conjecture and speculation on my behalf.

i'm uninstalling it as i type, and after a quick reboot, i'll post back...


*edit* uninstalled it, but the 'problem' still remains.

apologies for besmirching the fair name of Лаборатория Касперского (Laboratoriya Kasperskovo).

now i'm scratching my head wondering about this.

clean install of ultimate yesterday, ran windows update, latest hardware drivers. everything works including demanding games.

all except wei.

i did some googling and some people suggest changing bios settings.

Have you tried running winsat.exe from the command line? This way you can test each component seperately and narrow down the problem...
