That assessment isn't the tell. I get numbers slightly higher than that with 4GB 1600MHz DDR3. And I get a 7.7. Depends on whole system of course. A Guy

DarkMatter1975, I didn't see your scores but the scores really don't matter. But what's important is, like you said, if your system does what you want it to do. That's what matters. Looks like a good rig. And, welcome to Seven Forums.

My new laptop

I bought a Dv6-6140us HP laptop for $599 at Staples and I think it's pretty impressive for what I paid. It plays everything I've tried so far smoothly at medium to high settings in DX 11. This is what the WEI shows. The HDD is only 5400 rpm hence the lower score. I'm not sure why there's the difference in the regular graphics and gaming graphics scores though. One thing the WEI does not show is that the optical drive also plays BluRay discs and burns Lightscribe labels.

It probably has shared graphics. It runs on the onboard graphics for regular graphics and the dedicated GPU kicks in when the demand goes up. Similar to Nvidia's Optimus. And welcome to Seven Forums.

Actually it only has the one graphics chip. The new AMD APU's have the graphics built in like the Sandy Bridge Intels do. The difference is that the chip in the AMD APU is far better. It's roughly equivalent to a desktop HD 5570 in performance and far outdoes the Intel 3000 solution. It has 512mb of the DDR3-1333 system memory dedicated to it and can use more if needed.

When I got this laptop, it came with 6 GB RAM and the WEI score was 5.7 (1st image)

After I increased the RAM to 8 GB the WEI score become 5.8 (2nd image)

Then I have added a 16 GB SDHC card to the system as Readyboost and the WEI score increased to 5.9. (3rd image)

Now my inherent limitations on the system are the Hard disk (score 5.9) and onboard Intel graphics (score 5.9).

I can increase the HDD's score by going for a SSD, but what to do about the Intel graphics?

Can I do something about it?

Just got this new laptop and i got to say i have extremely impressed so far.

Jesus, great scores! Though I've never seen a desktop processor like the 990X in a laptop. And a 58M SLI?! If you don't mind me asking, how much did this cost? A heck of a lot I'd assume. :shock:
