what does this score mean anyway? 30 minutes ago my score was 5.1 but then Windows Updates told me there was a prerelease for some new nvidia drivers. i installed them and they lowered my score...

i do have a budget graphics card, but it's played everything i've thrown at it on full details :huh:

I can't seem to get the assessment to complete, I get the error listed below. Anyone know what is causing this?

There seems to be nothing wrong with drivers in dxdiag or device manager. I would attach my dxdiag but it's too big.

ok do the same thing again ( do it at least 3 times).....

right click my computer

click on manage

and then go to the event viewer...

on there should be alerts in there

can you see what errors it gives you

it should say something about winSAT...


(look for the errors in the the column highlited.....)

as you can see i have a hundred errors in my error events.....
all having to do with with application compatibility...

very much so dual - the same RAM in the exact same config on Vista gave me 5.9 hands down every time.

The WEI in 7 is totally weird how can you get the same score for a single HDD against 2 of the same in RAID0??
Or does it just have a look to see what HDD you have and give you a list score
This would mean a single core processor would rate against a multi-core version of the same Processor
I am currently testing my WEI with different amounts of cores running (same Processor) again the results are interesting, especially the RAM scores.

I have just checked my WEI on my Windows7 Virtual box running on Vista x64 and my memory score is higher than running on the real machine

This is also totally weird from my latest findings RAM scores seem to go down with low CPU scores

How many sticks of RAM are installed? is it running Dual?

So the new WEI scores,

Having a weaker processor will affect the other scores this is clear to me but I did not expect these scores

First my proper WEI to set the standard

Note I have only made adjustments to the processor

For johngalt I hope you can use this to find your own answers

I have seen this once before but I was more interested in a reinstall than fixing it sorry

I presume your WEI has been completed at least once (during the install) so try this; C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\DataStore and erase your old results

Strange that you dont get a 7.? I am starting to think that microsoft has fixed the WEI and that we'll have to wait for the final release to see the proper scores.

winsat command line options can provide additional information in addition to the simple numeric rating. Intel drivers now run winsat to determine whether to try to enable Aero. From an elevated command prompt run winsat followed by one of the following commands:

dwm Run the Desktop Windows Manager assessment
- Re-assess the systems graphics capabilities and
restart the Desktop Window Manager.

cpu Run the CPU assessment.
mem Run the system memory assessment.
d3d Run the d3d assessment
disk Run the storage assessment
media Run the media assessment
mfmedia Run the Media Foundation based assessment
features Run just the features assessment
- Enumerates the system's features.
- It's best used with the -xml <filename> switch
to save the data.
- The 'eef'switch can be used to enumerate extra
features such as optical disks, memory modules,
and other items.

winsat viewevents will open event viewer and filter to just winsat events

For more info theres always winsat -help!
