BareFootKid - You are the man! From the article-- The amount of time it takes, on average, for the correct information to come around to where the head is waiting after a seek is referred to as latency.
Since latency measures the amount of time that it is taking for the disk to spin into the right position, latency is directly correlated to the speed that the disk is spinning. This means that drives with a faster "X" rating will have lower latency, because they are spinning faster. This is one reason why these drives will have better performance.

So if the drive has a slower spin rate, then it takes longer to get the information, therefore a higher latency, and a lower WEI "Primary Hard Disk" score for the Windows 7 WEI Primary Hard disk score,....Right?? Thanks for your time.

yes and it is read by ms (milliseconds) for HDD's...
dont remember if its the same for SSD (i heard of 0.1 ms for flash based drive...)
not only that but also how much cache your drive has...

Command queuing
Newer SATA and most SCSI disks can accept multiple commands while any one command is in operation through "command queuing" (see NCQ and TCQ). These commands are stored by the disk's embedded controller until they are completed. Should a read reference the data at the destination of a queued write, the to-be-written data will be returned. Command queuing is different from write acceleration in that the main computer's operating system is notified when data is actually written onto the magnetic media. The OS can use this information to keep the file system consistent through rescheduled writes.

Don't have a screenshot,but it is 3,3 because of onboard ATI graphics.
I see that people here have 4 gigs and even 8 gigs of RAM,but I can get only 3,25 even if it's 4GB DDR2 in dual channel installed.
Why is that?

while the Ram itself may score high...
wei is based on the lowest score...

as you can see with mine i have 3gb ddr2 and its not even Dual channel and yet i score a 3,0 because of the HHD issue...

No,no...I'm aware of that,RAM for it self scores 6,9.I meant that I have 4Gb installed,and even in Everest and even in here,it shows me only 3,25Gb like it was in XP.

Are you using x64 or x86 Windows?

because your are using the 32 bit version of 7...

to use that extra ram you need 64...
what im thinking is that you have a graphics card that takes memory away of the total memory...

you should also know that the IGP shares Ram so that could another reason why...

Yep success at last. Bloody ethernet controller caused me all sorts of problems but I now seem to be dual booting with Vista 64 successfully.
Here's my score:



Just finished the install, got Firefox and Kaspersky for W7 (which is free).
Gonna take a while looking around and seeing what's what.

Thanks, not sure what I did but it worked. Don't seem to be able to access my music. That's all on my d: drive (separate HDD) but in W7 my d: drive is in fact my c: drive with Vista on it.
W7 doesn't seem able to see the separate disk with all my media files on (my d: drive in Vista).
I'll think about it tomorrow.

Uh...I was thinking exactly the same...
Some scores in this WEI are not realistic or they have some weird measurement system(from my point of view),especially in HD's.I'm not buying that someone's PATA HD gets better score then mine SATA 2 just because of few GB bigger primary partition.

In effect a smaller partition, (with enough space for the swap file) should increase performance!

Yeah, I have had mine for a bit as well. It think it's a pretty nice CPU overall. I do not think I have even stressed it once yet though.
