shut down-wait for updates-start again updates installing takes time

When microsoft comes with updates we get the message on shut down

"installing updates don't shut down. Windows will aut. shut down when finish"

Nice and easy.

But what I don't understand is that next time I open up the PC I will have to wait for the configuration of the installed updates.

Is there any way to get windows to do this aut. when Microsoft can't find out to do this?

1. shut down install updates
2. start again and do the configuration
3. shut down windows

Then we don't have to wait for the slow start when windows is configuring the updates.

I have win 7 and win 10.
But problem is the same on both systems

You could check Windows Updates & see if any Updates have been installed. If they have you should use Restart rather than Shut Down & Windows will shut down & you will get the message not turn off your computer as it reconfigures your computer. Then it will Restart & install the remaining configuration.

I check for Updates every morning when I start my computer. On the main Update days, which here are Wednesdays, there may be a lot of Updates, so I download these & Windows installs them. If some of the Updates require a Restart I get notified & screen appears with a Restart button which I press & Windows goes through the procedure I have listed above.

The best thing is not to have updates on automatic install, that's far too risky. Far better to have them set to be notified but not downloaded or installed. Wait at least a few days before following advice here and elsewhere on whether to install them and then you can choose the best time for you to deal with the shut down and slow restart.
