Hello All,

I have been trying to fix my shutdown issues for a while. I have written a thread about fixing a shutdown issue relating to the NVIDIA service here http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-cards/59849-how-solve-shutdown-problem-caused-nvidia-service.html

regardless of that issue, i sometimes get the "waiting for background programs to close" with nothing showing, then suddenly it says: 1 program still needs to close: (waiting for) Program manager. (i have no idea what this is or how to manually kill it)

It just stays like that for maybe 5 minutes then goes to the shutdown screen. Sometimes i only get the "waiting for background programs to close"for 5 seconds then it shuts down.

overall i have been having slow shutdowns. The blue "shutting down" screen takes 5 minutes sometimes.

i already checked my event logs for event IDs with 200. most of them come up as Microsoft services. i also defragged and used CC cleaner. i do not have the M Audio driver issue nor AVG or Norton (i use NOD 32).

i also tried to change the wait to kill registry hack. i think it made it worse. i tried it twice.

do any of the windows updates cause such issues. I hate updating my windows system. Always seems to cause problems.

I'm running windows 7 ultimate 32.

any help solving this would be great.

Thanks

FINALLY! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

i fixed my the shutdown issues with the ASUS G1S.

I was updating my drivers and after installing these two drivers (one of them solved the problem, not sure which one):

JMicron_JMB36X_WinDrv_R1.17.55_WHQL
intel_matrix storage manager_8961002

It started shutting down and restarting normally. no more crazy shutdown and restart times.
