I wanted to test my HDD but I'm not sure of the proper program to use.
I have an SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB .
I went to this site HD Diagnostic and found the Samsung site from there but the test they use doesn't list my drive.

I did find another tool that may be good http://www.samsung.com/global/busin...el_cd=507&dType=G&mType=SW&tab=down&ppmi=1087

I would rather use something more mainstream as I have never seen this one used anywhere.

The second question, I'm running windows 7 64 bit home edition. In my BIOS I noticed one of the options was 32 bit and with an option to change it to 64 bit. I did change it back and forth but didn't notice anything, does this matter?
Thanks!

Hi,

I don't know what you want to test, if it's the speed you could use a program like HDtune, Atto or CrystalDiskMark.
Some of them have some options to check your disks health as well.
If you only want to check if your drive is working properly I would use the diagnostic tool from Samsung, it's especially for your HDD.

I just wanted to get diagnostics setup on my computer, I had some BSOD's and a system freeze last week, RMA'd the MB. Not sure if that was the problem so I'm getting all the tools I need just in case.

Any Idea about that 32/64 bit setting in the BIOS menu?

MK2, thanks. It was the HPET mode, couldn't remember it. Just trying to review all the things that could go wrong in case the problem wasn't the MB. It was my first build and there's quit a few things I'm catching up on. My last computer was 9 years old running ME OS.

Theog, a lot of good references here that I can use. Thanks!

I wasn't able to access the following site.

Seems I don't have access to it. This is the message that I get.
