Simple SSD optimize/buyers guide - good read

I have seen better guides and i don't use all of these suggestions, but this is a "simple" guide for someone looking for and setting up an SSD. I hope everybody thinking about getting one will at least read this if not Anandtech's long in depth articles.

Take this for what it is......a small article that has a lot of good information. I would probably not use the tweaking programs but they may be useful for someone not comfortable "tweaking"

Something that I'm wondering about, is that it says that W7 automatically sets some tweaks when it detects a SSD. For instance:

Platter drives need to be defragmented around once a week, but solid state drives keep files organized in house. Windows 7 should automatically disable this feature when it detected your SSD, but you should verify that the service is not running. You can find this setting in the Services area.

would any of the tweaks made by the OS effect other regular harddrives also? I don't use the OS's defrag anyway, I use O&O instead, so I assume that I could do as I do now, and defrag selectively, but I'm wondering if there are any other automatic tweaks made, that wouldn't be so easy to workaround?

No, I run 2 640GB Western Digital storage drives, I have had no problem. To be honest, i have seen no evidence that Windows 7 does anything automatically, but it might. All the stuff they say it does.....my installs didn't seem to do. I had to make the tweaks on my own. It could have done them and kept the changes in the registry....I don't know.
