Simplifying updates for Windows 7 and 8.1

Ex_Brit, have you made sure you have KB3020369 installed? I've truncated your quote for the sake of brevity, and highlighted part of Brds7t7 quote for accentuation....

It looks like one needs KB3020369 whether you're doing a regular install or slipstreaming.

Can anyone help with the slipstreaming I outlined in my earlier post. I'm getting an unattend.xml-type error in the penultimate stage.

I would upload them for you Lehnerus, but I'm only on a tablet right now so can't access them.

This one needs to be installed first or the pack won't install.

Has anybody managed to integrate it into the installtion media? Can't persuade it to integrate here, seems to be something wrong with the xml file.

No problem here, you just need to integrate the prerequisite April 2015 servicing stack update (KB3020369) first.

Hi jaknapceu, welcome to 7F! :)
Hello, i'm here new from sister site Tenforums.com

Can someone give me link how-to integrate this update to installation?
I'm newbie to editing installation media. :P

I got official ISO from MS site using my productkey. Windows 7 Pro x64 slovak

thanks
This may be the link you're looking for, it's in Brink's OP:
And since this update can be injected into Windows 7 SP1 media, it’s fully supported to mount a Windows 7 SP1 image (WIM file), then inject this update into it. See https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/...(v=ws.10).aspx for the details of how to do this.

Hi jaknapceu and welcome to Seven Forums. There are a couple of posts earlier where people have tried that without any success. Keep an eye on this thread and we'll get an answer sometime.

Hi All,
Can someone answer these questions about this roll-up :

1) back in 2013, MS released a post SP1 hot-fix rollup : KB2775511. Does anyone know if the new rollup (KB3125574) includes the hotfixes from the 2013 rollup - or do we have to install the old one first ?
2) if I read correctly, the new roll-up does NOT include IE11 (crazy). If I do win updates afterwards, will it install IE11 normally, or do I need to manually install the IE11 pre-requisites first ? I'm hoping win updates will do all that ??
3) has anyone written a nice step by step guide for slip-steaming the new update ? The MS article on TechNet "Add or Remove Packages Offline" is a PITA to follow. Hopefully someone here has written a step-by-step guide that includes all steps (eg extracting the ISO file, etc)

Thanks !!

So I did a test:

1. Clean installed Win 7 Home Premium x64 upgrade CD.

2. Installed standalone SP1.

3. Installed KB3020369.

4. Installed KB3125574 rollup.

5. Set WU to never check for updates and connected to network.

6. Ran manual check for updates...

3-1/2 hours later it found 30 important updates and 35 optional updates, dating back to 2014. Some of them I expected, like IE, .NET, and MSRT, but there were 19 security updates! One update claimed to be SP1, although it was only 9MB.

I did a spot check on the updates that Microsoft says are *not* included in the rollup - they didn't correspond to what WU was offering me.

Better than 200+ updates I guess, but not at all what I was expecting based on the rollup description.

Kevin

That doesn't sound right at all. There should not be so many updates still to download, there was nowhere near that on mine. Sounds like that didn't install correctly?

I am shocked :sarc: I have been following some tests that others have done - your findings and conclusion are the same. Unfortunately it has become manic. At times you get fast access and shortly after you are back to glacial speed. We are all part of a big experiment. :busted:

OK have "slipstreamed" the rollup into my disk image but how to burn these to DVD? I can't seem to make a bootable DVD - IMGBurn refuses to accept all the files below and Nero rejects when DVD Boot is selected saying install.wim is too large, select DVD UDF.
