Huzzahh!!

Finally got it to work.
I exited from MCE and went back and checked my power options.

I think I had made a mistake and set the display and sleep times the same.

I changed it to 2 and 3 mins and tested a Media Ctr recording and it worked!!

2 and 3 minutes is very short. Something tells me that setting it this short will cause you some problems. I would recommend 10 and 15 minutes instead.

That was just a test.
Didn't want to sit in front of computer for 30 minutes.

What problems would that cause if I left settings?

I'm not 100% sure, but there are some other settings that wait 6 minutes by default. Besides, you wouldn't want to pause the TV and have the PC go to sleep in 3 minutes, would you? That's not enough time to go to the bathroom or get a snack in the kitchen.

If a recording is ongoing, the comp doesn't go into sleep mode.
I tried that last night.

True, but it will go to Away mode, if Away mode is allowed. I have mine set to start displaying the Media Center screen saver (photo gallery) after 10 minutes, and then another 10 minutes it turns off the display, and another 10 minutes it goes to standby/away.

This works well to protect my plasma TV from burn-in when the TV is paused/stopped.

Just thought I'd give a final update:

The comp was going to sleep ( not during a recording) but if I was converting a video file.
I went to settings in Advanced, and changed to "Away" and now if anything is occurring, the comp will not sleep until the process is finished.

I tried numerous test recordings and conversions, and the comp recorded and at end went to sleep and woke up to record another one.

I know this is contrary to many suggestions ( and I appreciate them all) but this seems to be the only thing that works for me.
