Windows 7 64 bit, Enterprise SP1:
My configuration is for sleep mode to go into S3 mode, I disabled password upon rewake. However, there's a major problem. When the computer goes into sleep mode, the processor starts going crazy and overheating. When it hits critical, the system auto shutdowns. It can't be reawakened when it goes crazy like this, and frying my computer, (HP Envy, 8 gig ram, Pentium i7), is not something I really want to do.
Ran powercfg -trace, checked that the keyboard should allow it to pop out of sleep mode, and now I'm stuck on what the problem could be.
The only useful piece that I got was this:
"Platform Power Management Capabilities
CI Express Active-State Power Management (ASPM) Disabled.
PCI Express Active-State Power Management (ASPM) has been disabled due to a known incompatibility with the hardware in this computer."
I tried checking the BIOS on start-up and couldn't find any options for changing the power state. So, where do I begin?
