Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone could help with me with a problem I've got.

I turned on my laptop this morning after hibernation and said there was a fatal error coming out of hibernation, so I turned it off and chose "Launch Startup Repair" which was recommended, instead of "Start Windows Normally." After about half an hour it looked as though all had been fixed after a system restore.

However, on restarting my laptop everything went slowly, start up was slower than usual. I couldn't open anything on the desktop or click the start menu without it freezing. After getting sick of this, I clicked shut down which also took forever as well.

If anyone could help me with this it would be much appreciated, and if you need any other information I'll try and give it.

Thanks very much.

Hi,

Kindly follow the below mentioned steps which could fix the issue:

Run a test on the Hard Drive to confirm functionality. If you get any error code, make a note of the error code.

Check the performance in safe mode/ Safe mode with networking. Proceed to next step in case the performance still lags.

Check if the antivirus software has detected any virus/ malware/ spyware, if yes proceed with the Antivirus/Spyware/Malware troubleshooting.

Limit how many programs run at startup by using “Autoruns” or “msconfig”.

Try running the below mentioned troubleshooters which could fix the problem:
If the issue still persists, then try creating a New User account and check if the symptom appears in the New User account or not.

Hi there,

Thanks for that. I tried all of that and nothing seemed to work. I think I ran a test on the Hard drive correctly by going to Properties>Tools>Check now under error checking and nothing came up after a restart.

None of the other things worked either although I couldn't even start my Norton 360 antivirus.

Any other ideas that could help without me taking into a professional to get looked at?

It would be much appreciated.

Thanks
