Just set up Acer X1301, with W7 home premium. Installed our software, transferred data. At some point in installing our software, an error message appeared in the center of the screen: titled, Smartheap Library, (error) Bad_mem_handle. As far as I have been able to understand, this message seems to deal with an error generated by one of our software installations. Acer tech support recommended going back to the factory default settings, which I am loathe to do because that involves re-installing all our software and re-loading our data.

Does anyone know of a method to get rid of this error message?

Thank you.

Welcome,

I can think of only one way. Uninstall the software that you think is most likely to be causing the problem, then do this: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html

Continue the process unti the problem is resolved. Of course you realize the same rule applies here that applies when something is lost; you will find it in the last place that you look.

If you can use the software, you may want to try each for a while, one may not work properly and be the most likely culprit.

If you do have to reinstall the software, do it one at a time as you need to use it. The job will not be so large, that way.
