Some advice on a scratch buikld with AMD Athlon 3000G

Lots of old hardware problems for me these days.

I'd like to start a new build before I lose my backup rig to something unforseen.

Some time ago I was following Low Spec Gamer on Youtube. The AMD Athlon 3000G with a very low end motherboard will meet any needs I have. I understand that the Athlon 3000G has graphics. The goal here is to get a VGA compatible
motherboard plus a stick of memory to just get another system running. MSI is a trusted motherboard brand for me but it seems that Asrock has the bottom price. I have no interest in gaming, Low Spec Gamer was just that: a place to see low end builds which the guy tweaks up.

And it should work with Windows 7 which I've never moved from to a higher version. It should have no quirks doing that.

I've looked at partpicker but I'm in here to establish a place where I can ask my questions.

Used product seems as high as new. And I have not had to return any motherboard I've ever gotten as dead new or used.

NewEgg is where I've gotten most of things I have bought as new.



If this is the wrong forum for entry level custom build questions, please advise.

If you are planning to run win7 you had better check that your proposed motherboard supports it.

Are there any official win7 drivers for the graphics built into that cpu ? I dont think so.

I am not sure asrock is a good choice.

Thanks for reply. That's a start. True, Asrock for this CPU has had some problem reviews of product. I prefer MSI.

I'll ask it another way since this is Sevenforums: Anybody using the Athlon 3000G and what motherboard does not require a lot of 'adjusting'? Changing drivers and such. Is there a good backward compatible selection?

I'm not being choosy but the freedom from having to get vid cards appeals to me.

Today I looked at the suggested drivers alternative link from above. Though I did go through the BIOS upgrade sequence for my MSI760gm-- and in steps as it is advised to do at MSI, the alternate drivers look to be a more complicated process. I'd need a detailed how-to. But their concern looks like gaming. I watch MKVs, stream some news shows and do a small bit of video editing for some live shoot plays. I've always gotten by with onboard video and a CPU upgrade like Athlon should be adequate.

So from users here at Win7 what would be a build you are using yourself? I'd rather not Intel-based but willing to read about it for the Win7 issue.
