I would like to ask few questions one at a time plz reply me :D
First of all, I wud like to start with this one :

1. Yesterday I had scheduled Boot time disk check(w/ automatically fix and scan for and attempt bad sectors... checked) for all drives(partitions). And it started fine and showed No problems. But after a while i discovered all the partitions had got bootsqm.dat files of some 4kb.Im sure they were created after disk check at boot time bcoz there wasnt any before. So I wud like to know what are they?are they harmless?why are they created?why arent they deleted automatically after reboots if they are temporary files created by system? They are still there so can i delete them what happens if i do so?:o

PS Is it normal to have bootsqm.dat or do they mean some kinda problem ?

Taken from TechNet forums,

1. This file only gets created when you run some software that requires to chkdsk (Disk Check) when computer is rebooted, after the task is complete and the operating system is running, you can safely delete this file.

It doesn't replicate after deletion because it is no longer needed, it will only appear again when you will run another Disk Check at system reboot.

2. AFAIK presence of bootsqm.dat indicates that the disk was checked (chkdsk) and this probably "fixed" some errors on the disk.

3. I guess during this process access to your data was somehow lost.

Regarding your third question, are you missing any data in the drive (missing files, folders) ?

This file is automatically created when chkdsk is either automatically or manually invoked on your hard drive. It is basically a scratchpad for use by this command so that it can keep track of what, if any, corrections it needs to apply to the disk. It is not automatically deleted, however you can manually delete it should you wish. It can be found in the root folder of your HDD and is a 4KB file.

The following images show the resultant file on my system after running chkdsk on my W7 Pro 64-bit partition with a clean result:

Now its time to proceed to Second question of mine :D

2. When I tried to chkdisk or format Partitions which is not part of system and is only storage of my personal files : I get warning :( (cant while its in use) Force a Dismount ?
Is it normal? Why is it being locked?I dont think there is any program running from there or using it.

In order for this tool to run, it needs exclusive access to the drive. That means that no other programs can be running or accessing any of the files on the drive whilst this check is carried out. This also includes such background programs as the indexing service. For this to happen, the drive needs to be dismounted (for non-system drives) or, for system drives (the one containing your OS), the check will be scheduled for the next boot. You can cancel this check on boot, however until the check has been allowed to run you will get this prompt on every boot.

Now Third question :D :

3. "hobocopy" HoboCopy | Get HoboCopy at SourceForge.net
I heard it can help to copy in use files that are being locked.
Can it run on Windows 7? If yes how to use it plz explain.
If hobocopy cannot be used on win 7 arent there any GUI alternatives to it ?

PS I've heard it can copy even files from c:\...\TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES\LOW\flaxxxx.tmp

HoboCopy can be used in Windows 7.
You will have to run it from the command line.

Click Start, type CMD and press Enter
A command window will open.
Navigate to the HoboCopy folder.
The command line syntax is,

1. If you are copying an entire folder
Code:
hobocopy <Source Folder> <Target Folder>
2. If you are copying a single file
Code:
    hobocopy <Source Folder> <Target Folder> <Filename>
You can use these arguments, if required,
Code:
/full - Copy all files
/skipdenied - Ignore any access denied messages because of permission errors.
/r - Copy recursively (Include Subdirectories)
/y - Don’t prompt, just copy everything
Ex.
Code:
hobocopy /full /skipdenied /r /y C:\FromFolder D:\ToFolder
hobocopy /full /skipdenied /r /y C:\FromFolder D:\ToFolder FileIWantToCopy.txt
If you are not comfortable with the command line then,
You can try out Runtime Software Shadow Copy. Its free.

Product Highlights
* Copy all your files, even if they are locked
* Run from command prompt
* Copies locked and open files
* Uses Microsoft's Volume Shadow Services

Not heard of this before, so I've checked the link you provided. As yet, there are no downloads available, so it is not possible to evaluate it.

Welcome to the forum GreenScorpion, you would be better off starting your own thread with your problem. This thread is an old one so your problem would probably get missed by the people who could help you.
