some unknown problem with mouse

I am not sure what and where the problem lies but I am having strange problems with my mouse.

First, I assumed may be mouse is not functioning properly, so I thought of replacing it with a new mouse when I next go to shop.

I am using laptop, so the touch screen mouse, is working with out any issues but I prefer using external mouse.

Now getting back to the problem, I am hearing some kind of application crashing sound or the error msg sound when ever the external mouse gets stuck and again released.

Its not functioning properly but I am also hearing some kind of sound. I tried unplugging and replugging mouse, it didn't help any better. From past few days, I was having few issues with the way left click was working still it didn't give any major probs like @ the moment.

I am not able to locate where the problem lies, so kindly help me out. If buying a new mouse will solve the problem, I have no issues with it but the application sound is worrying me..

If you go into control panel > Sound and then go to the Sounds Tab you should see a list of event's and what sound that event makes. Scroll down to Device Detect and Device Disconnect. If you click test it will play the one selected. I suspect you might be hearing the connect, disconnect, connect etc. I've had corded USB mice do this when one of the wires breaks and makes intermittent contact. If that's what happened to yours a new mouse will fix the problem.

You can disable the touchpad, by doing this:
Disable Touch Pad of your Laptop; Avoid Erratic Cursor Movement When Typing
