I want to download a very specific file (doesn't really matter what it is) and it keeps getting deleted off my computer as soon as I download it. And Microsoft Security Essentials automatically starts asking me to send them information about this file, which I am not keen to do.

I am sure this file is safe.

I closed MSE from the processes, but it still keeps doing it, or at least something is. What should I do?

Uninstall MSE and download the file of interest.

Then upload that file to virustotal.com for 40+ "second opinions".

Re-install MSE & tell it to exclude the file of interest before you let MSE do a scan.

I actually just got around it by just making the download folder to be excluded in the MSE settings, but thanks anyway.
