Sony Vaio laptop Win 7 black screen of death.nothing on screen

hi guyz

i last visited 3 years ago!

the problem today i face is that my sony vaio laptop model nw29gf suddenly grew tired of me and is displaying nothing on screen when i start it up. there is literally nothing on screen not even dim backlight which could have been easily solved. alas i think the problem i face is not simple!

when i start it the power led is on and charging led is on now the hdd led turns on and then goes off after 5 seconds or so. i dont even see the win logo i dont even hear the windows startup sound in the background but when it starts i can hear the usual fan sound.

i tried to connect the laptop with external monitor with vga and it did not display externally! means even worse problem than the bad lcd which i could easily buy.

i tried the method of pressing the power button for 30 scnds 1 min 2 min with removing the battery and draining the static charge and then again powering on with charger only (without battery) but it did not solve the problem

i tried removing the 2 ram sticks installed. tried each in different slots one by one but still no good. although who knows they might both be dead or maybe both slots are dead but thats a long shot isnt it?

now i know people will say the only solution is reflowing ur graphics chip on the motherboard but i badly want it to be fixed before taking such an extreme step. i mean ur literally frying ur motherboard at 200+ C and what is the guarantee that it will work after that for quite some time?

who knows maybe it will work for a week or a month but what if after that it gets heated up again and the same problem occurs what then?

so plz guyz i ask is there any wayi can fix my black screen of death without reballing? and if some of u have done taht is it stable?

If your hard disk is shutting down after five seconds and no BIOS display, you have a bigger problem than your graphics chip and reballing (which I don't recommend, anyway). If the GPU alone had failed, Windows would probably still boot up. You just wouldn't be able to see it.

Either something is wrong with the internal power distribution, or you have lost the processor chip, or your BIOS has somehow become corrupted. This is assuming that I have read and understood your problem correctly.

At the very least, it would require a trip to a repair shop. The problem is that motherboard repair on a laptop is almost as expensive as buying a new one. Laptops are so cheap these days that they have become a disposable commodity.

My advice is to get a quote on the cost to repair it, and then make a decision on what to do based on the costs involved.
