sony vaio vgn-fw BSOD IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

I started last week having frequent (some-times every 20 min) random IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL BSODs on my Sony Vaio VGN-FW190n. I made a clean win7 install 4 days ago and everything has been fine untill last night it started again, a less frequent though.

The weird thing is that at my office there are to other guys using almost the same sony vaio model as I am, just the European version of VGN-FWseries. One of them started having the ''same'' BSOD as me the day before it started for me, last week, and the other started having them today.

Even though it could be a coincidence I am wondering if this could be caused by a recent driver update or something. I still haven't updated all my drivers after the win7 install 4 days ago but i don't have the knowledge to find out what is causing these BSODs.

Both crashdumps point the finger at your wireless network drivers. I believe that would explain why more than one of them in the office is suffering the similar crash. You'll want to update the network drivers in addition to any CPU/chipset drivers as well as audio drivers (audio and network often share same resources and I've seen them conflict).

To help supplement Vir Gnarus's advice: Intel® Driver Update Utility is the best place to update your wireless driver. Your wireless driver is dated pre-Windows 7, so this may very well be the problem.

I was unable to determine what your audio device is. Let us know if you need help finding updates for it.

Thanks for your quick responses. You're right it is most definitely my wireless. My co-worker had his wireless turned off yesterday and did not experience any crashes. So I have updated my wireless and chipset drivers.

I'm having problems though with identifying my audio device. In device manager it is just listed as High Definition Audio Device. On Sonys website there are som old vista Realtek® High Definition Audio Drivers intended for my model so that might be the installed device. But how can i make sure what my device is so i can find recent drivers for my os?

It looks like it is indeed using the standard HD audio drivers that come with Windows. I do not see any realtek drivers loaded during the crash. This may be a good thing or a bad thing. You can install the realtek drivers, and if it causes you hassle you can remove them if necessary.
