Hi,

I've recently purchased a Sony VAIO VGN NR31JS it comes with Vista Key but i purchased windows 7 for it.

When i install Windows 7 the graphics card is shown as a standard vga adaptor, so i tried several drivers from the Sony site (which were for vista) and the from laptopvideo2go.com

Every time i install the drivers upon restarting the screen courpts and the windows logo appears broken up and flickers then i see a broken up flickering blue screen.

Am i using the wrong driver? Or is it a physical hardware problem?

Thanks

You need to download gfx card's driver from the official site (Nvidia or ATI/AMD)
What card do you have exactly?

I tried that also, and it said it was unable to find a compatible card on the system.

The Card is a 8400m GT

That method has never worked flawlessly...
This is what u need.
Choose to do a custom install and check 'perform clean install' and uncheck 'HD audio driver' if avaialble.
