Update: The latest Asus Xonar drivers for Win 7 work perfectly however...for the drivers to work properly with the newer versions of Win7 "7200 and up" you will need to install the patch from the Xonar driver Vista 64 page in the Asus driver download section. It's right at the top of the page.

The patch description doesn't say anything about this fix but it works perfectly none the less.

If you don't install the patch you will see that IE locks up and most of the control panel is non operational.

It's best to install both the Win7 Asus Xonar drivers and the Vista patch before rebooting. The patch only takes one second to install. :sarc:

Have changed nothing, and the mic is back to being all garbled etc.

Tried a driver reinstall, but just the same.

The Auzentech Xploion 7.1 Dts connect works can that be added to the list and there's also a win7 driver over at there website i can confirm it works in x64 also

Creative Labs X-Fi Elite and SB Audigy 2 Platinum Professional both work w/ updated drivers from website. You might as well throw the included driver cd's in the garbage. (Although they DO make great coffee cup coasters for my desk!)

I can't test the optical output, only the analog, 5.1. I've had a great experience with using the Windows 7 64 drivers from Asus for the P5Q PRO Turbo motherboard onboard sound VIA VT1708S.

The file i downloaded is named VIA_Audio_V6017100_Windows7.zip Windows 7 ids it as 6.0.1.7100 dated 5/8/2009 from VIA Technologies, Inc.


I've tested the sound in MS Flight Simulator X, Caesar IV, and The Sims 3 as well as music in iTunes. I was a little concerned when I bought the board that it had VIA onboard sound rather than Realtek, but I am very pleased with the VIA onboard sound. At least on the analog side the drivers definitely work.

You tried the drivers available directly from C-Media (you would need the CMI8770 driver),

no promises, but if it works about the only thing you lose is any control panel that installs with the driver from HT Omega, it will install the generic C-Media control panel (or at least should).

MOTU Traveler firewire audio interface is great on Win 7. Today, I received a replacement for the one I broke through RMA and it's the first time I tried it with 7. Everything is up and running perfectly with the latest Vista x86 driver here. Glad to have quality sound capabilities again.

Regarding the Audigy 4, I think it should perhaps be mentioned in the first post that although the sound works great, the mic input does not work properly. I have tried loads of different drivers, including the ones from here :

I can get the mic to occaisionaly work, but then, without changing anything, it turns into a garbled mess and sounds awful. It seems to have been a well documented issue with the Audigy 4 on Vista as well.

Perhaps only fair to let folk know. I went and bought an audigy on the strength of this thread, and it is now sat idle on the windowsill.

I'm after a list of Sound cards that people absolutely know work in Windows 7 (beta build 7000) and have drivers that support them which also are compatible with Windows 7.

List of Sound Cards and Drivers that work:
-Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 4 (Drivers Located here)
-M-Audio's Delta 1010 LT soundcard with drivers made for Vista SP1, with Windows 7's compatibility program (All Delta series may work with Vista SP1)
-Asus Xonar D2 sound card works, Recording features may not work in some with some driver software.
-Sound blaster Audigy 2 SE works with the drivers from windows update
-Soundblaster live, only with kxproject drivers. WARNING: The windows update drivers give terrible sound.

Actually I've got a sound blaster live digital working in my system with the daniel k drivers and haven't had any problems with it yet.

Turtle Beach Audio Advantage SRM DOES NOT Work

The Turtle Beach SRM crashes the system. Cannot find what Chipset it uses to see if there is a workaround. No drivers from Turtle Beach thus far.

I second the soundblaster cards working with Daniel K's driver set, works wonders! I am using an X-Fi XtremeGamer edition.
