Sound Cards **That WORK**

After playing around with it, in addition to my Xtreme Music that is working great, the HDMI audio on my ATI cards (both my HD4830 and the onboard HD3200) is working no problem.

P.S. For what it's worth, can also run up to 4 monitors with the onboard enabled. :D

I don't know if this is any use to anyone, but I'll post it anyways. I have manage to get the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card to work on Windows 7. Be it that the sounds are great considering how old the card is. I will say that the game port part of it wouldn't install no matter how many times I un/install the drivers. I found this a a month or so ago, but the Voyetra Santa Cruz drivers I found to work are the sc_4193 drivers,..instead of the sc_4161s (which worked great on XP). However there are experimental drivers, but they do in fact work. I have noticed no distortion or anything with a lot of bass or any hissing with treble.

I did notice that if 7 installs the Realtech ac97 drivers for the onboard sound, windows will stop and restart itself every time you access the control panel( window has encountered an error and must close....). I just went to the device manager and disabled the realtech drivers and the gameport option ( 3rd TB listing in device manger) and haven't had a problem since.

This is currently running on my media pc, which I built out of old pc parts I had lying around and wanted to see what still worked, and to also see if I could run Widows 7 on an old AMD T-Bird and a Gig and a quarter of RAM. My build on W7 is 7600.

They are a bit quirky that way but those Xonar drivers work well for me with the Vista patch and also I needed to change over to DVD quality for the sound to work correctly.

When the mic doesn't work checking the two variables on the right usually gets it working.

Please add the Bluegears B-Enspirer sound card (CMI 8788 card).

They originally said they were NOT going to write drivers for Seven, but they negotiated a deal with C-Media and now have Windows 7 drivers available on their website.

I was previously using a Xonar driver set (which worked OK), but the bgears drivers & SW are actually newer. I'm using them now and the card works great!

Using non-RAID on purpose as I find RAID to be too temperamental.
Now set to AHCI
I have the bluegears b-enspirer and I cannot get any sound no matter what I try. I have tried both the W7 drivers from the bluegears site as well as the Xonar drivers. No sound at all with either.
