Sound driver for window 7?

my sound was working properly with window xp, i installed window 7 and my sound disappered. can any1 help me so i can get my sound back. i got a sound card it is a hardware it goes in pc like usb and u plug in microfone in it but this is not working either. so there must b something worng with sound sitting as far as i can guess.
if any 1 can help i''ll be gr8full.

Go to Device Mgr.

Any yellow marks on sound tab?

If so, right click and update driver.

Christopher would be good to know what the brand of the sound card is mate as I for one do not use the Windows feature for updating drivers preferring to go to the manufacturers site.
