in post http://www.sevenforums.com/sound-audio/1131-no-drivers-soundmax-ad1888.html a decision is found
"I had same problem with AD1888 but in 32 bit Win 7 (7000). Windows 7 installed driver for Soundmax and even updated it, but it didn't work at all. The problem was in driver number - 5.12.01.5290. I just replaced one file (smwdm.sys) from Asus Win XP driver pack for this card (5.12.01.3665) and rebooted the system. So I have sound now. "

where it is possible to get it a file??? :cry:

(I beg pardon for errors in text. I use on-line by a translator. :o )

Good God, that actually worked!

If you have XP on your machine, the file is in windows\system32\drivers (in my case g:\windows\system32\drivers). Overwrite the file in c:\windows\system32\drivers with this file.

Dears,

I'm sorry for my bad English, but I believe that I know how to fix the problem with SoundMax AD 1985 on Windows 7 32 bits:
I had problem with my ASUS P4P800 with AD 1985 when I installed Windows 7 and after to search a lot on Internet and never found a solution I decided to try by myself and it's work now!
Attention: Obviously that you will need the Drivers or CD instalation!
1º) Put the CD into the driver or extract the driver and program intallation in a folder;
2º) Into the folder that have Win XP driver select the executable files (*.exe) and click with rigth button of mouse over them (one-by-one) and choose "properties";
3º) In the window that appears choose compatible mode, them choose Windows XP SP2;
4º) After doing it on every file "*.exe" go to setup.exe and run it!
5º) If all was worked well, the driver and program SoundMax will install and work without problem like Windows XP!

That is all!

One more time: Sorry for my bad English, but I think that the answer of the problem awards the effort! :geek:

Perfect working adi 1985 windows 7

The right way is:

1- Download the windows xp driver from intel.com named: "AUD_ALL32_5.12.1.5240_PV2.EXE"

2- Unpack the executable autoinstalable driver using "winrar" for example.You must drop the file using the right mouse button after installing winrar , and decompress the file in a folder.

3- Go to device manager in control panel, click on the not working audio device , and just update the driver using the path where you decompressed the executable.

Thanks to you all from Catalonia!!

That Intel brewed file was a pretty good decision. The juice also works. In both of them you have to select this driver file that says 5CH. There is one thing though that is getting on my nerves. The 5.1 channel sound will only manifest itself when you watch DVD or AVI with the appropriate sound. It it also possible with WMA files coded for multichannel. Now when I am listening to mp3 files it will only play the 2 front speakers and that is terrible. Despite of that they are stereo my Windows XP was able to deliver sound trough all the speakers. I tried Winamp as it traditionally works that way but to no avail. Can someone help me with that issue. There is something wrong with Win7 DSP definitions I think.

I've uploaded a driver combination that worked fine on Windows 7, on my P4P800 motherboard, with AD 1985, And Surround 5.1.

I hope it work for you...

THANK YOU VERY MUCH :)

I was trying to get on-board audio working for a couple hours, it was frustrating.

That driver enabled me to run "Windows 7 starter edition 32 bit" on "Intel Desktop Board D865GRH"

I had to force the driver to install (ie : device manager, "have disk") but it works perfectly.

Here are some keywords for Google :

ADi1988 audio driver for win7
