Solved Speech Recognition Windows 7 - no Microphone icon

Did not know exactly where to make this post so selected Sound and Audio - hope I am right:

Windows 7 OS on my Gateway FX computer. When I try to start the Speech Recognition app, no microphone control panel shows on the screen.

I have set up the audio for Speech recognition, done computer training and went through the tutorial - that part works fine.

I have tried the commands "Start Listening", "Show Speech Recognition" but no icon appears. No icon appears when I manually select Speech Recognition within Control Panel.

Anyone who can help will be much appreciated.

In the lower right corner of your desktop There is a little arrow that says " Show Hidden Icons." Click on the little microphone in a circle. That will open a box showing some microphone options, among them is to turn the mike on or off.
