Hi all,
I installed Windows 7 last night on my backup HDD and so far I'm liking it. I have the permission stuff all shut down, installed Office 2007, AVG and even got Windows Mail to work then imported all my files, bookmarks, pictures ect.. and I'm pretty well set to use Windows 7 as my main OS with Vista on my other HDD just for backup. My question is is there any tips or tricks to speed up Windows 7 on my PC??? It's not a dual-core PC rather a 3.06GHz Pent. 4 with 2GB memory and a GeForce 7800GT PCI card.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks

Hello Pinger,

Welcome to the Seven Forums.

You could look through the Tutorials - Windows 7 Forums section. Also you could have a look here. Speed Up the Performance of Vista - Vista Forums This is for Vista, but much of it applies. Make changes slowly, so if something stops working, you don't have 20 candidates for the cause. I haven't bothered with #10 in W7. Don't recommend turning off restore points as it takes away a safety net, but you can make your own decisions.

Hope this helps. Enjoy.

Gary

Edit: Your too fast for me Shawn. :)

I will give them all a look, I was told Win 7 was going to be a completely different animal then Vista but so far anything that is designed for Vista seems to run just fine.. Even your suggestions are pointing towards Vista tips for Windows 7 :)

Forgive me for asking this here, but does anyone know if the following VBS script for Vista to display boot time will work okay in Windows 7?
