Hi all,

I have a genuine Windows 7 Home Premium license. Home Premium was installed on this machine over a year ago. This morning, upon booting, I was informed that my installation of Windows was not genuine (black screen, Build 7601 message, etc). I went to re-enter my product key and noticed that the one I was seeing on screen was one I'd never seen before (had an OEM in the middle of it). I also noticed that instead of Home Premium, I now have Windows 7 Professional. I had tried about 2 months ago to do an anytime upgrade from HP -> Pro but they had been discontinued. I don't really remember what I tried then but perhaps I borked something?

Goal: Working Windows 7 Home Premium using the key (paid for by me - from microsoftstore.com) that was, until recently, working just fine.

Advice appreciated.

Macca.

Unfortunately, the only way to get back to Home Premium once you have Pro installed, is a full clean install.

The installed Key is an OEM_SLP Key for a Fujitsu machine - yours appears to be either a home-build or a custom-build from a small manufacturer, in which case this is the reason for the immediate notification, as your motherboard doesn't have the required SLIC table to support this type of Key under any circumstances.

Sorry - but a reformat and reinstall is the only option.
