Hello all and thank you in advance for anything you can do to help me. I've been working on my laptop for a few weeks now because I've been dealing with a lot of BSOD's lately. I've had my laptop for just over a year and this last month has taken a turn for the worse. For the first 6months I had the laptop there were one or two BSOD's I experienced, but they were very infrequent. Over the last month I've been using my laptop more and I've had many blue screens while watching videos, playing games, and just using the internet. I'm a pretty light user and don't have a lot of stuff installed. I've gone through the basics and run memtest, scanned for viruses, etc. I'm just not sure what more I should do now.

Sorry for the long post and thank you very much in advance!

Cleaned my post up a bit.

ntoskrnl.exe comes up a lot from bluescreenview. I've reinstalled my nvidia driver several times over the last few weeks and so I don't think it is directly the problem but perhaps I'm wrong?

Respectful bump. If anyone needs more information please let me know. This is the first time I've made one of these kinds of posts.

So I'm still working on a few things. I got two more BSOD's watching a video (i was about half an hour in on the second BSOD and figured I'd call it a day at that point).

My laptop has two video devices, a GT 630M and the integrated Intel 4000 chip.

Yesterday I tried disabling the Nvidia card to see if that would do anything different. Needless to say, I had two crashes today so I'm not so confident it did any good. However, today I swapped (enabled Nvidia card and disabled Intel's chip) and everything went dark on my monitor. Had to force restart to get anything to come back up on my monitor. At this point things seem to be ok and I'll continue to run like this at least until I get another BSOD, but a red flag is set off for me atm b/c Aero is currently disabled and says that my current driver doesn't support it (supposedly I have the most recent one, however, so I find this confusing). This is a pretty powerful card for a laptop and it should be able to handle Aero, right?

Also, I forgot to mention this before but I can hear crackling in my speakers quite often. I'm trying to pay more attention to how/when this happens.

I'm going to mark this as solved, I guess. I've had a few more BSOD's since my last post but they are far less common and now it is just one error reoccurring instead of 3 or 4. I changed a lot of stuff and toggled a ton of settings, but what I think made the difference in the end was basically removing all of the extra nvidia stuff and disabling the card entirely. I do not know if the card is defective or if it was just the drivers. At some point it is quite likely I will enable the card again but for the moment I'm happy with just the Intel graphics. Not having to deal with BSOD's every 10min is a welcome change.

Hope this helps someone out there.
